PRESS RELEASE

Milan, March 5: International Fur Federation showcases fresh design talent Remix supported by Vogue Italia for the first time in its eleven year history.

Shohei Ohashi Gold Prize Winner

REMIX, the international competition that discovers new talent in fur design, receives for the first time the support of Vogue Italia and Vogue Talents.

Via REMIX, The International Fur Federation aims to regenerate interest in fur as an important fashion trend and to promote creativity in fur design now and into the future.

After a three month selection process involving 44 delegations worldwide, the 12 finalists will present their “vision” during a fashion show held at the Pelota on March 5, alongside MIFUR, the sector’s flagship event.

A jury chaired by Franca Sozzani, editor in chief of Vogue Italia, includes also Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi – designers of the brand Aquilano.Rimondi – international figures in the world of fur as well as top fashion editors, that will select three new talents in fur design.

Altynai Osmoeva (UK), Diana Agayan (Ukraine), Eduardo De Crisci (Argentina), Janka Arnoczy (Hungary), Mijia Zhang (US), Riikka Kälkäjä (Finland), Roderick Buijs (The Netherlands), Sara Dolci (Italy), Shohei Ohashi (Japan), Veselova Viktoriya (Japan), Nitin Mahajal (Spain) and Tine Winther Rysgaard (Denmark) will be going head to head, demonstrating their including creativity, flair, technical competence and production feasibility.

Since its inception in 2003, REMIX has inspired, encouraged and supported more than 500 talented individuals, some of whom have started careers with leading international brands. Alexander Kantz, the winner of the 2012 edition, is currently working with the Swedish giant H&M, Lucy Upsher has worked for Roberto Cavalli, Bud Adji is a designer for Hugo Boss knitwear and Sally Bohan collaborates with Abercrombie & Fitch.

We’ve run this competition successfully for 10 years now, but to liaise with a prestigious title like Vogue Italia means taking the REMIX profile to a whole new level and allows us to show a much broader audience up-and-coming fur design talent from across the globe. This event demands months of preparation and hard work from all involved and the design talent is phenomenal. Entrants are pushing the boundaries and re-inventing this most versatile of materials that has been in use since the dawn of mankind.”

said Mark Oaten, CEO, International Fur Federation

Every year the International Fur Federation gives a voice to the fur trade, promoting talent and putting a sector that is constantly expanding, especially in emerging markets such as China, Russia, Brazil and the rest of the BRICS, into the spotlight.
