WHAT IS REMIX 2019 COMPETITION?

REMIX is the annual fur design competition which gives up-and-coming talent from across the globe an opportunity to showcase their innovative designs to a highly influential, international audience where they will experience a global exposure across a range of traditional and online media channels. Over 1,000 students from more than 25 countries have taken part in the competition since its inception 14 years ago. Remix takes place during the month of February in Milan, Italy during Milan Fashion Week, and is supported by VOGUE Talents. For 2019, the main overall riding theme of the competition is ‘REPSONSIBILITY’, therefore all applicants must express this theme creatively in their own designs. REMIX winners receive awards, prizes and press coverage to help further their career. In the most recent competition, REMIX 2018, the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners had the opportunity to be included in an exclusive editorial shoot produced by Vogue Italy and featured in Vogue Italy April print issue as well as online on www.vogue.it. The winners also had the opportunity to have their garments featured in FUR NOW, the International Fur Federation’s global fashion advertising campaign. The campaign runs seasonally throughout the year in print as well as online in major magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, L’Officiel, Cosmopolitan, as well as on social media. Apart from the above, the winners were also granted an all-expense paid trip to different auction houses including Kopenhagen Fur, Saga Furs and NAFA for technical training courses. Previous REMIX finalists have credited the REMIX competition in propelling their careers which has seen them work with fashion brand royalty such as Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli and Jean Paul Gaultier as well as dressing A list celebrities. Previous finalists and winners include Astrid Anderson, a regular at London men’s fashion week; Nicolas Martin Garcia, menswear designer for Roberto Cavalli; Thom Barends, product designer for Haider Ackermann; Sally Bohan, senior designer for Patagonia; and Roderick Buijs, menswear and womenswear designer at Louis Vuitton.
