Christopher Bailey

Christopher Bailey, as Chief Creative Officer of Burberry, is responsible for the design of all Burberry collections and products, as well as all advertising, corporate art direction, architectural design, multi-media content and overall brand image for Burberry.

Christopher also oversaw the design and development of the 160,000 square foot Burberry global headquarters at Horseferry House in London, Burberry Americas and the Burberry headquarters in Ginza, Tokyo.

In 2008, Christopher set up the Burberry Foundation with Burberry Chief Executive Officer, Angela Ahrendts.  Christopher was appointed Chief Creative Officer of Burberry in November 2009, as newly created position in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the brand since his appointment at Burberry as Creative Director in May 2001.

Prior to his appointment at Burberry, he was the Senior Designer of Womenswear at Gucci in Milan from 1996 to 2001. From 1994 -1996, he was the Womenswear Designer at Donna Karana.

Christopher, 40, is British and was born in Yorkshire. He attended the University of Westminster and graduated with a B.A in 1990. He gained his M.A. from the Royal College of Art in 1994.

The most recent among Christoph’s many awards are: 2010 – International Design Award, Council of Fashion Designers of America; 2009 – MBE in the 2009 Birthday Honours List for his services to the Fashion Industry, Honorary Patronage from Dublin Trinity College Philosophical Society and Designer of the Year, British Fashion Awards [UK].
